OUR MISSION
To educate, equip, and encourage Reformed Christians to
political action and to bring a biblical perspective to our civil authorities.
1 —
WHO ARE WE?
We are a local chapter of The Association for Reformed Political Action (ARPA) Canada which is a grassroots Christian political advocacy organization.
The mission of ARPA Southern Alberta is aligned with that of ARPA Canada "to educate, equip, and encourage Reformed Christians to political action, and to bring a biblical perspective to our civil authorities."
We believe that Jesus Christ is sovereign over all, including all civil governments. However, we also uphold the separation of the institutions of church and state.
2 —
We regularly:
-
Create action items and campaigns for local ARPA supporters on issues of concern
-
Provide information and support to local elected officials in their difficult task of governing our provinces and nation
-
Assist with organizing presentations at local churches and schools in partnership with ARPA Canada and with other organizations/speakers
-
Support and encourage local members to participate in provincial and national ARPA conferences
-
Increase election awareness through all-candidates forums or election questionnaires
-
Build positive relationships in our community and strive to be a witness to our neighbors

WHERE DOES ARPA COME FROM?
The Reformed church community has a history of political action and involvement in Canada. Already in the 1970s, local groups such as ours formed in churches and became known as ARPAs.
In 2007, ARPA Canada was founded to re-invigorate political action in the Reformed churches and to coordinate local efforts. Although ARPA Canada's work is much broader, it continues to assist local ARPA's such as ours here in Southern Alberta. We thank and praise God for the immense blessing on this effort in the years since.

Actively engaging as a chapter member is a meaningful way to participate with other local individuals on municipal, provincial, and federal issues. Attending meetings provides an opportunity to learn more about issues of focus and to collaborate on different ways to engage. Participating in local events is inspiring and encouraging, and a wonderful way to witness to those in our community. Action inspires action!
